What kind of person is Byakuya Kuchiki?

The 28th head of the Kuchiki family, one of the four great aristocrats, and Rukia Kuchiki's big-brother-in-law. Byakuya Kuchiki is a handsome man with black hair who wears a hairstyle called Kenseikan (牽星箝), which is allowed only to nobles. Around his neck, he wears a collar called Ginpaku Kazahana no Usuginu(銀白風花紗), which is a sign of being the head of the Kuchiki family.

Byakuya's personality is calm and strict about rules. Because of his personality, he tried to wait and see when his sister-in-law Rukia was scheduled to be executed. Byakuya confronts Ichigo, who is struggling to help Rukia, and defeats Ichigo once, but in the second battle, Byakuya recognizes Ichigo as one of the Soul Reaper. Byakuya later reveals that he was unable to act due to the rules and was upset during the internal report. He apologizes to Rukia after learning that she was used in Aizen's plot. After that, Byakuya's personality becomes a little less harsh, and he can sometimes be seen caring for Rukia.

About Byakuya Kuchiki Zanpakutou

Shikai：Senbonzakura (千本桜)

Byakuya's Zanpakutou name is ”Senbonzakura”, It meaning is Thousand sakura. Trigger command is "Scatter(Chire 散れ)"

When this Zanpakutou is activated, the sword scatters like Sakura(cherry blossom) petals, becoming countless blades that unfold in all directions and cut down the enemy. These countless blades can chase down enemies like a tornado, or surround them and cut them into pieces.

Sakura is native to Siberia, Japan, China, the United States, and Canada, and is widespread in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere. Translated into English, it means cherry blossoms, but Japanese cherry blossoms are often called Sakura due to the strong influence of Japanese culture. In Japan, Sakura is a selectively bred ornamental tree that does not produce cherries. However, the pink petals of Sakura are loved by the public, and Sakura festivals are held, and Sakura is often planted to commemorate certain events. It is also sometimes called Sakura color instead of pink.

Bankai : Senbonzakura Kageyoshi(千本桜 景厳)

Byakuya's Zanpakutou's Bankai name is Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, Shikai's Senbonzakura has the same meaning, Kageyoshi(景厳) means a merciless harsh scene, and is an auspicious name that is often used as a Japanese male name. The way to activate it is by dropping the user's sword blade downwards, the ground becomes like water surface, and the sword is sucked in and activated, which is a cool way to activate it.

Normally, when it comes to Bankai, the shape changes and the techniques become more complex compared to Shikai(For example, Renji Abarai's Zanpakutou changes its appearance when it becomes Bankai, and SUI-FENG's Bankai has completely different performance from Shikai.), but Senbonzakura simply has higher basic performance, so the main focus is on increasing power, quantity, and accuracy.

Senbonzakura Kageyoshi can use the following secret techniques due to improved accuracy.

Senkei・Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (殲景・千本桜景厳)

Senkei means annihilated scenery. A technique that increases the killing power of a single sword by condensing one billion flower petals into a thousand swords. This technique is used when fighting Ichigo, and is only used against opponents that you have sworn to kill. Byakuya said it was the second time he used it on Ichigo, but the name of the person he used it on first is unknown.

Goukei・Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (吭景・千本桜景厳)

A technique that appeared in Arrancer Arc. Byakuya used it in the fight against Zommari Rureaux. Zomari Leroux was surrounded in all directions by a large number of Senbonzakura petals in a spherical shape and crushed.

Gokei(吭景) means the throat(Gou 吭) and the scene (景), and Gou (吭) means the important part. It is thought that the name was given with the meaning that Byakuya would definitely kill the opponent's vital points.

Ougi・Ikkasenjinka (奥義 一咬千刃花)

A technique introduced in The Thousand-Year Blood War Arc. This is a technique in which a thousand swords condensed with Senkei・Senbonzakura Kageyoshi are sent flying at the opponent at once.

The meaning of Ougi・Ikkasenjinka (奥義 一咬千刃花) is Ougi(奥義) = Secret Techniques, Ikka(一咬) = biting, Senjinka(千刃花) = blade like a thousand flowers.

Shukei・Hakuteiken (終景・白帝剣)

Shukei・Hakuteiken is a fighting technique that condenses Senbonzakura Kageyoshi's 10 billion petals into a single sword. This technique is more powerful than Senkei・Senbonzakura Kageyoshi.

Shukei is an old Japanese word for the last scene, and Hakuteiken means the emperor's white sword. This technique was only used when fighting Ichigo, and Senbonzakura can attack in a wide range, but Shukei・Hakuteiken has a single sword, so it has a large unguarded.

Byakuya used this technique and lost to Ichigo. At the time, some viewers criticized that "If they had fought using Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, they might have been able to win."
